Today Graça Machel launched an initiative to help save Zimbabwe the Mail & Guardian reports.

“Politicians have very huge egos to protect. They don’t care if another thousand, another thousand and another thousand die, as long as they protect their egos.”

“We trusted too long, it’s time we tell our leaders we lay the lives of all those who passed on … in the hands of the SADC [Southern African Development Community] leaders because they took the responsibility to stop that mess there.”

The campaign will include a hunger strike by Zimbawean pastor Wison Mugabe. Nomboniso Gasa, chairperson of the South African Commission for Gender Equality, and Kumi Naidoo, honorary president of the NGO Civicus, will join Pastor Mugabe in the 21-day hunger strike.

A number of organisations are supporting the initiative, namely the South African Council of Churches, the Young Communist League, The Elders, the South African Communist Party and the Islamic Relief Support centre.

Where is Afriforum? Where is the communist party? Where is Cosatu? Sies julle.

Askuus kameraad, but your last para asks where is the Communist Party…

  2. Kameraad Mhambi says:

Nope its was their Youth league. The SACP itself was not. Ever since the Zuma is the top dog Blade Nzimande has gone all quiet on Zimbabwe.
