“The black faces you see in front are not really black … they represent whites who are opposed to black rule.”
This week Julius Malema had to appear before the Equality court. He did not testify.
Why was he before the court? The Sonke Gender Justice Network NGO laid a hate speech, harassment and discrimination charge against Malema. That is after he told a gathering of Cape Peninsula University of Technology students that when a woman didn’t enjoy sex, she would leave early in the morning. The inference being that president Zuma’s rape accuser enjoyed the sex they had.
“We are in court because the whites who are sponsoring this organisation, they want to make sure they embarrass the leadership of this movement,” Malema is quoted as saying.
The person who laid the charge against Malema happens to be Mbuyiselo Botha, who allegedly was 25 years old when he was shot by the apartheid police and left partially disabled.
Julius Malema would do well to remember these words by Steve Biko in his essay Black Consciousness and the Quest for a True Humanity.
“While it may be relevant now to talk about black in relation to white, we must not make this our preoccupation, for it can be a negative exercise. As we proceed further towards the achievement of our goals let us talk more about ourselves and our struggle and less about whites.”

I think that Malema receives much more attention than is due. He’s a clown – ignore his ignorant jokes!
