On a side note. When I first wrote a post titled The unbearable whiteness of being I wrote about how cool it was being black.
We all know about black. It’s the now fashionable little number you seldom keep closeted if you happen to be black. It gets bandied anout allot, this blackness. Its cool, even the likes of ostensibly white David Beckham claim it.
Some academics would argue that whiteness is ill defined and certainly not cool. In the west a case can certainly be made that whites are blissfully unaware of their whiteness, for the most part.
Perhaps Die Antwoord and movies like District 9 with its bumbling Wikus as hero, is changing all that.
