Kameraad Mhambi just heard from a reliable source that Eugene Terreblance had a white male lover. I have not confirmed this.
Am I mad? Well this morning it was reported that the police found a used condom at the scene of the murder. (Also see update below)
Now things make a lot more sense. You will remember that I have been very sceptical about this murder, and the fact that the ‘killers’ had called the police and left the murder weapons at the scene of the crime.
Now I have two theories of what might have happened. ET had tried to have sex with his workers and things got out of hand. They assaulted him, and called the police.
Another possibility. ET went to the farm to meet his lover. They were caught and attacked. In this case this is a hate crime of another nature, and the Institute of Race Relations’s Assertion that ET
“in death he may come to represent the experiences of scores of minority groups in the country who perceive themselves as being on the receiving end of racist and now also violent abuse from the ANC. In effect therefore Mr Terre’Blanche may be seen as having been martyred for a minority cause in the country.”
- might be in a very profound way.
There are many other possibilities of what might have happened if this is true.
But if the first version is true, then this would be the ‘best’ outcome possible. It will deflate the AWB and the far right utterly. Afrikaners need the far right like a fish needs a bicycle.
If the second is true, it might cause serious problems for gays & lesbians in South Africa. Demagogues like Mugabe will be quick to point out a link between whites and homosexuality, and will campaign for the freedom of the two suspects.
UPDATE: After police denying that a condom was found, both the Sunday Times and Rapport link the case to sexual abuse.
In The Times, one of the accused laywers says:
“My instructions from my client are that there was some sodomy going on and it sparked the murder of Mr Terre Blanche. This is going to form part of our defence during trial,”
Rapport claims that many claims have been made against Terreblance of abuse including that of a sexual nature against both black and white South Africans. They also claim that a young white man that visited the farm has been taken into protective custody.
A while ago I wrote in repsonse to the murder of lesbians in SA that:
“Like lesbians and foreigners, white farmers are a vulnerable minority.”
Who would have thought this connection would be made in such a direct way.

White refugee, if ET was gay I’d have more sympathy for the man. It’s not easy to be gay in Africa.
We’ll soon find out. The police are now denying that a condom was found.
I suspect that this story will be confirmed in the next few days if its true.
ps: I don’t hate Terreblance. I do find his early political career very distasteful. But he mellowed somewhat after prison. There was a time when ET campaigned to maintain apartheid in all of SA. Later he became a volkstater. I have a lot of sympathy for that cause.
Interesting theory, but again I doubt this very much. Likewise I do find his politics somewhat not to my liking, but still he is interesting to watch, and I do honestly believe the way he died will give him martyrdom.
Homosexuality in Africa is taboo, in some instances the death penalty still applies. That is scary in its own right.
…my source is not first hand but quite reliable none the less, and according to my information, this lover has received death threats from the far right.

I am astonished how you cling to the Afrikaners as victims discourse even when you have no evidence, use quotes out of context and how now you’ll link it to the real danger against gay people.
Sean please explain – what claims, which quotes, what lack of evidence do you refer to? If you make massive allegations please do us (me) the favour of explaining what you refer to?
